>The Super Yacht Chef Course
Overview
The Yacht Chef Course is ideal for anyone who wants to go on board as a crew cook or stewardess/cook. If you already have a chef qualification and experience in restaurants and hotels, we can make your transition from land to sea even easier. This course takes place once a month in and around Cape Town and the course modules have been designed for novice cooks and qualified chefs alike.
If you’re a qualified chef with a valid chef diploma:

This part of the course consists of practical information needed to join the Super Yacht Industry, such as CV preparation, sample menus, photo preparation, crew placement agencies, visas, day working, networking and finding a job on board.
If you are a novice cook:
The Yacht Chef course is for novice cooks who want to be employed on board super yachts, luxury catamarans and sailing yachts as a cook or stewardess/cook or as a crew cook on larger yachts. The duration of this course is 13 days @ R19 950.
Yacht Chef Course
Our Yacht Chef Course will give you the fundamental skills to run a galley and add value as an all-round crew member. The practical sessions will equip you with culinary and presentation skills to “wow” your crew and guests. You will be given the opportunity to cook on board one of the prestigious motor yachts berthed in Cape Town’s V & A Waterfront.
The theory section of the course covers everything you need to know: from your departure overseas and getting the job on board, to being an excellent crew member after landing the job – and we even throw in some financial advice on investing and opening Offshore Bank Accounts to help you make the most of your hard earned Euros and Dollars.
Our comprehensive culinary syllabus, developed by Elmi Henning (a very experienced former Yacht Chef and Trained Chef herself), covers a large amount of cooking and ingredient know-how with practical tips all the way.
Isobel and Jason from SYSA will add vital safety, stewardess and deck work information to ensure that you leave the dock with the ability to help out in all areas on board. Isobel and Jason also instruct practical workshops during the Yacht Chef Course – an added benefit of completing this course with 2 Oceans Maritime Academy.
Upon successful completion, you will receive a SYSA Course Completion Certificate and our top candidates will be put forward for job placement.
