>RYA/MCA Commercial Yachtmaster Coastal
Overview
The 8 Week Yachtmaster Coastal course is similar to the 5 week gap week training course, however it takes aspiring sailors from an entry (novice) level all the way up to preparation for the Coastal Skippers exam.
This is an entry level course that offers you an effective way to gain employment as a qualified crew member (deck hand) aboard yachts of all sizes – including Super Yachts. 2 Oceans Maritime Academy has specifically designed this course in order to meet the growing demand for professional, well trained crew members to work on Super Yachts and luxury yachts.
Aim
To gain the skills and minimum experience needed to work as qualified crew member on luxury sail or motor yachts. This includes being confident and competent in all aspects of crewing on both large and small vessels and to be aware of what is expected of you. Successful candidates will emerge with an internationally recognized RYA Yachtmaster Inshore Coastal Offshore ticket.

Duration
8 weeks
Required sailing experience
No previous sailing experience is necessary. However a love for the ocean, travel and hard work is a must.
Training
RYA Competent Crew, Day Skipper, Radio (SRC), Super Yacht Training, First Aid, Fire Fighting, PSSR, Power Boat Level II, RYA Coastal Yachtmaster Theory, RYA Coastal Practical, RYA Exam Prep and the RYA Yachtmaster Inshore Coastal Offshore Skippers Ticket.
On the water
Gain practical experience in, sailing, crewing, navigating, watch keeping, maintenance and seamanship skills.
On land
Learn the principals of boat handling, navigation, passage planning, rules of the “road” and SRC Radio. Not to mention: first aid, fire fighting, sea survival, super yacht training, care of vessel paintwork, glass fibre, varnish, repairs to sails, winch servicing, rope work, rigging, diesel engine maintenance and basic repairs.
